‘bold new venture with a grill focused Mediterranean menu’
10 Neild Avenue, Rushcutters Bay
8353 4400

The focus is on healthy eating.
The grill takes centre stage, yogurt and citrus provide the basis for sauces in several dishes, there’s an abundance of wholegrains and herbs which are used with abandon. Excellent cauliflower fritters with chilli, parsley and garlic hand cut chips, superb onion rings and duck-egg tarts that blow their yum cha inspiration out of the water.
The grilled octopus is a must – the best ever!
Finally this restaurant is all about beautiful Mediterranean food served in a faintly surreal dining area comprising of a pair of stage-set-like miniature houses designed by rome-based Australian architect Carl Pickering.

Prices = reasonable.

Highly recommend. Only take bookings on Friday lunches.

Do you remember when Woollahra had two banks and a TAB? Or the oversize clock at Appley Hoare before she moved to London, heralding the arrival of Simon Johnson?

The local landscape has changed a lot over the years and continues to energetically evolve, however its beauty remains a constant. Di Jones Real Estate is celebrating being an integral part of the village since 1992 with an advertising campaign which kicks off in August.

“Di Jones Real Estate - Part of the local landscape since 1992” is a press campaign which celebrates our neighbourhood’s physical beauty and quirky charms in equal measure with photographs of members of the Di Jones team enjoying the delights of the community in which they live and work.

The people at Di Jones are unashamedly proud of the beauty of the eastern suburbs and have chosen a “special place” to be photographed in.

“Woollahra has been the home for this agency for almost 20 years; since Di and Bill Jones first started the agency. The area is home to most of us,” Susannah Anderson, Managing Director of Di Jones said.

“We all have in our hearts a special place in the eastern suburbs. It is our home, our place or work, where our friends are and were we spend much of our time. Our ads are really a way to recognise the many and varied places throughout the east in which Di Jones Real Estate has been involved.

Chiswick
65 Ocean Street
Woollahra, NSW 2025

Chiswick Restaurant and Bar is located in Chiswick Gardens, Woollahra.
Co-owned by Matt Moran and Peter Sullivan, Chiswick is a neighbourhood restaurant, where the menu is designed for shared.

The heart of Chiswick is its kitchen garden where much of the produce for the menu will be grown.

Try some stunning sharing plates like just-picked tomatoes with crushed olives – that’s sensationality on a plate. We loved the exceptional dish of raw tuna with coriander seeds, seaweed and sesame, serviced on a salt slab that cures the tuna.
As for the mains, the lamb shoulder – brined and cooked for three and a half hours in a wood fired with ironbark – is as soft as butter to cut, while retaining a crunchy, salty crust that makes you salivate to look at.
The lamb oozes quality and flavour and even at $59 it is good value – this dish feeds three to four easily, meaning it is about $15-$20 a serve.

Chiswick is not just for celebrities or frozen-faced ladies who lunch.
Once the hype passes, Chiswick promises to grow into a tremendous stalwart of Sydney’s dining landscape.

BRASS BISTRO
‘Yellow House’
57-59 Macleay St, Potts Point

9357 3400
Brassbistro.com.au

This brassy little newcomer feels like an oldcomer, from its buzzy low-tabled bar to the long slim dining room. The floor staff have that innate, easy professionalism gained only from experience, yet still manage to bring their own personalities to the table.

Darren Taylor, who trained at Maison Troisgros in France and Armando Percuoco for many years, has succumbed to the allure of more casual, unpretentious dining.

For dinner the French bistro dishes line up with twice-baked soufflé, creamy mussels and saffron soup to a minute steak Bordelaise with French fries.

A delicate starter is the silky paper thin slices of raw Atlantic salmon ($21.50) dressed with lemon juice, tarragon, chervil, olive oil and salmon caviar, accompanied with lavosh crisp bread.

The steak ($29.95) is as good as that of Bistro Moncur, or even Melbourne’s wonderful France-Soir? Teamed with a savoury bordelaise sauce, wilted spinach and modest amount of extremely crisp and well-salted chips.

After that, the Brass trifle ($12) is homely, cakey, and creamy.

The model set up by Damien Pignolet (Bistro Moncur) shaped this city’s perceptions of bistro food for nearly 20 years with its luxe definitions of bistro favourites.

Brass, while smaller and more neighbourly is a worthy successor.

There is a pleasing modesty about the cooking, it looks fine, smells good and tastes true to form.

Licensed and open Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Stability, reliability, experience and honesty
The team at Di Jones Real Estate hope that you have all had a wonderful first couple of months for the year.

There has been an exciting change for the agency and for all Di Jones Real Estate’s. Commencing Tuesday February 21st, Di Jones Real Estate returned to the old Lookout Theatre on level 1 of the Woollahra Hotel to hold our fortnightly auctions. Di Jones Real Estate auctions were held here for many years, and it has been a great return for the agency and the agency’s clientele.

The first auction for the year started with the sale of Di and Bill Jones’ former Woollahra home at 35 Moncur Street, Woollahra. There had been phenomenal interest expressed by potential purchasers throughout the marketing campaign of the home not surprisingly.

With minimal change in the world economy over December and January, we have started the year very much as we ended it; with clients deciding they had wasted enough time waiting for things to change, and getting on with the business of buying, selling and leasing property. What is important in challenging economic climates is stability, reliability, experience and honesty. These are just some of the strengths of the Di Jones team and agency and just some of the reasons why you should call Di Jones Real Estate to work through your real estate needs with you.
