Interest rates not affecting house buyers - ABC Radio National

Tuesday, April 06, 2010

Economists are divided over whether the Reserve Bank will lift interest rates when it meets today. If it does, it will be the fifth rate rise since the economy rebounded last year and will take the cash rate to 4.25 per cent. In a television interview last week, the Reserve Bank Glenn Stevens said house prices were "getting too high" and that it was important to return interest rates to normal levels. But the prospect of higher borrowing costs isn't putting off house buyers in capital city auctions.
